If you can't afford to be without your tractor for a period of time, then you should do your best to make sure this doesn't happen. You want to be as prepared as possible to take care of maintenance and repair issues yourself. This way, you won't find yourself out of commission while you wait for the parts you need to come in. This article will give you information on some of the tractor parts you should be sure to keep on hand because they will likely be the ones you will end up needing.

You should have light bulbs on hand

You don't want to find yourself unable to use your tractor in dim conditions, all because you suddenly find one of the lights is no longer working. This is why you should be sure you keep lights on hand.

You want to have filters for the tractor

Tractors work in a dirty, dusty environment, so they have filters to help protect their components from dirt and dust. When the filters are in need of replacement, you will want to be able to take care of them yourself. This way, you can get back on the tractor as quickly as possible. The filters you need include air filters, oil filters, fuel filters, and hydraulic filters.

You should always have tractor fluids

Even with the filters being replaced as needed, the engine and hydraulic oils will still end up with gunk at some point. This is why you want to be able to change them as a part of the tractor's routine maintenance. Also, any time you find that the tractor is low on fluid, you want to be able to add more fluid right away, so you should always be stocked up on the fluids, oils, and coolant.

You want to keep spare belts for your tractor

If there is a problem with one of your tractor's belts, then you want to be sure you have one already. It can be more difficult than you may think to obtain one locally at the last minute, and you don't want to be held up waiting for the belt you need so badly to come in. By having spare fan, alternator, and air compressor belts on the property already, you won't get stuck waiting for one before you can get back to work.

You should keep spare fuses on hand

For every electrical component on your tractor, there will be a fuse to protect the circuit. Fuses blow and they are very simple fixes. However, they can also hold up progress if you don't have a replacement fuse. This is why you want to stock up on fuses, so you can replace one as soon as it goes.

By making sure you keep the things listed above on your property, you will be more self-reliant when it comes to keeping your tractor in good working condition at all times.
